FLOATING ISLAND CROSS STITCH PATTERN
This modern floating island cross stitch pattern is perfect as a DIY gift for a geek, nerd or fantasy buff looking for an unusual embroidery project. With a hint of steampunk, this floating island world adds colour and interest to any wall! The pattern features a miniature world landscape with a village under mountains, trees, a hot air balloon, clouds and cloud ladder and a world steerage mechanism. You’ll be floating on air with this original art hanging in your house! The design fits perfectly inside a 6” hooped embroidery frame when made with 14 count Aida.
There is also a second floating island cross stitch pattern in the set (Floating Island #2). It uses all of the same colours as the first one, so be rest assured you can use all of the colours again. An intermediate to advanced skill level is required for this chart, due mainly to the fact that it does require a bit of patience with the amount of colours used – though the shading effects in appearance make the project well worth it.
This pattern has only 2 backstitches on the hot air balloon and no half stitches. Included are very simple and easy instructions on how to use a common household ingredient to dye white or cream Aida to be darker, so the white in the pattern will stand out. Please note this is a counted cross stitch pattern in PDF format only and no fabric, DMC floss or other materials are included in the listing.
